RedSeal Systems Appoints Tom Arthur as CEO
Redwood City, CA. June 3, 2008 RedSeal Systems, Inc a leading developer of innovative security risk management software, today announced it has appointed Tom Arthur as Chief Executive Officer.
In a related move, the RedSeal Board announced that Joel Evanier has been appointed as Co- Chairman and Executive Vice President of Business Development Strategy. "With Joel's deep industry contacts and experience, we are delighted he will continue to lead the day-to-day development of strategic partnerships," said Ray Rothrock, RedSeal Chairman.
Arthur comes to RedSeal with over 20 years experience in building significant businesses in emerging markets for startups and Fortune 500 companies. Most recently, he was CEO of PhoneSpots, an early innovator and international provider of mobile local search content and advertising solutions for Yellow Page and Directory Assistance (411) operators. PhoneSpots, which was successfully sold to Call Genie in January of 2008, had major deployments in the US, Canada, France, Greece, Sweden and the UK.
Prior to PhoneSpots, Arthur served three years as President and CEO of Arbor Networks, a leading provider of flow-based network security, visibility and analysis products. Used by over 80 percent of the world's largest ISPs, Arthur helped establish Arbor as the industry's de facto standard for detecting, tracing and mitigating denial-of-service, botnet and worm attacks on service provider and enterprise infrastructures.
Prior to Arbor Networks, Arthur served five years as President of ActivCard Inc., a recognized leader in supplying digital identity solutions for governments and Fortune 1000s. With over six million smart-card-based digital identity badges deployed, ActivCard customers included HP, Microsoft, Citibank, Sun and the U.S. Department of Defense. While at ActivCard, Arthur helped the company grow from $3 million in annual revenues to over $34 million, culminating in a successful IPO on NASDAQ, raising $300 million.
From 1988 to 1998, Arthur served in various sales, marketing and general management roles for Novell Inc. His last position was VP and GM of Novell's Internet Infrastructure Division, which was focused on Novell's directory services, security offerings and software platforms for Internet Service Providers. Arthur holds a BS from the University of California at Davis.
