RedSeal Hires Key Executives To Lead Product Management and Customer Satisfaction Teams

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — April 23, 2014 — RedSeal, Inc.(redseal.co), the provider of end-to-end network visibility and analytics to prevent cyber attacks, today announced that continuing in its mission to attract top-tier industry talent, the company has hired Martin Walter as the new Senior Director of Product Management, and Robert Capps as the Senior Director of Customer Success. Both are industry veterans with a rich history in their respective fields, and their appointments are designed to further propel the company’s growth.

“Our goal now at RedSeal Networks is to build on the traction we’ve gained with key markets, and the best way to do that is to bring on board professionals who are uniquely qualified to meet evolving market needs,” said Ray Rothrock, CEO of RedSeal Networks and a renowned venture capitalist who took the chief executive spot earlier this year after a decade as board chairman. “That’s why we’re delighted to welcome these outstanding executives to our team. Martin and Robert both have a long track record in leading the development and delivery of innovative technologies, and we’re privileged that they’ve chosen to join the company and take our offerings to the next level.”

Martin Walter has gained a sterling reputation for his extensive experience in product management, combining deep technical expertise with diverse skill sets in product marketing, and pre- and post-sales customer orientation in large enterprise environments. He was most recently Senior Product Manager at Palo Alto Networks, where he supervised User-ID, a primary component of the company’s Next Generation Firewalls offering. Among other areas, he led the development of cryptography and authentication product lines, created PRDs for new features and developed field training, collateral and technology notes for new releases. Before that, he was Product Manager at PGP Corp., where he managed PGP SDKs, PGP Universal Server and PGP Key Management, working with all parts of the organization to identify new business opportunities. Earlier, he was a security consultant specializing in enterprise PKI and encryption/signature solutions, among other technologies.

“I’ve always been drawn to companies that focus on developing innovative technologies for specific market needs, and RedSeal Networks is clearly a leader in that field,” Walter noted. “I look forward to working with this team of dedicated professionals to bring new and exciting products to market.”

Robert Capps brings nearly 20 years of experience in design, management and protection of complex eCommerce systems to his new position. A recognized thought leader in his field, he comes to RedSeal Networks from his post as Senior Manager – Global Trust and Safety, at StubHub Inc. While there, he led the development of a comprehensive risk management and anti-fraud division focused on buyer and seller risk within an open and international marketplace. He also managed the design, implementation and operations of an automated transaction risk modeling, scoring and remediation system. Earlier in his career, he was Assistant VP for Retail Internet Security at Wachovia Corp., where he headed the consumer online security practice for the retail banking unit. He was previously Chief Technologist for Consumer Internet Security at World Savings Bank.

“Information and technology security is a dynamic discipline—every day there are new threats emerging, and developing strategic defenses requires a high level of innovation, which is exactly what RedSeal offers,” Capps observed. “I was previously a customer of the company, and I chose to join it because I’m truly inspired by the commitment to serving and growing the customer base with a very high level of innovation and dedication. I’m excited to get this opportunity to work with a talented team and help lead the market with unique technologies and enhanced customer satisfaction.”

RedSeal Networks specializes in providing network transparency that offers a unique view of network security and enhances trust in the network infrastructure. The technology serves top government agencies and the some of the world’s largest corporations with actionable intelligence that help prevent cyber attacks. In addition to Walter, Capps and Rothrock, the company also recently appointed Mike Eynon, previously the founder and CTO of Silver Tail Systems Inc. as Chief Architect.

SANTA CLARA, Calif.–April 1, 2014–(BUSINESS WIRE)–RedSeal Networks, the end-to-end provider of network visibility and analytics to prevent cyber attacks, announced today that it has appointed a new chief architect, Mike Eynon, to spearhead the design of the company’s next-generation solution. Eynon was founder and CTO at Silver Tail Systems Inc., which delivers a leading-edge suite of online fraud detection and mitigation products.

“Bringing Mike on as Chief Architect represents an investment in technology and know-how that will enable RedSeal Networks solutions to further strengthen the trust customers have in their networks”

RedSeal Networks continues its momentum in delivering quality security solutions by expanding its product portfolio to support customers with extremely large networks with tens or hundreds of thousands of devices. RedSeal Networks provides the leading product with the scale and performance to detect risk in the world’s largest enterprises.

“RedSeal Networks’ next-generation product requires a scale of analysis heretofore unknown, and to build such a product requires seasoned experts who have done this before,” said Pete Sinclair, COO at RedSeal Networks. “I have seen Mike build very scalable solutions, including one that led to a successful acquisition by EMC Corporation, and I can confidently attest that his expertise is a perfect fit in driving continued success at RedSeal Networks.”

The RedSeal Platform is already capable of handling very demanding environments, providing the network visibility and actionable intelligence needed to prevent cyber attacks. However, as networks grow in size and complexity, the problems grow exponentially. This new generation of RedSeal Networks solutions will go far beyond anything on the market, providing the scale and performance needed to secure even the most complex networks.

“Bringing Mike on as Chief Architect represents an investment in technology and know-how that will enable RedSeal Networks solutions to further strengthen the trust customers have in their networks,” said Ray Rothrock, CEO of RedSeal Networks. “We provide visibility, which enables control and helps our customers prevent cyber attacks. RedSeal Networks’ Dr. Mike Lloyd Recognized as CTO of the Year

SANTA CLARA, Calif.–March 5, 2014 –RedSeal Networks, the end-to-end provider of network visibility and analytics to prevent cyber attacks, announced today that Info Security Products Guide, the leading information security research and advisory guide, has named Dr. Mike Lloyd as “CTO of the Year” in their 10th Annual Global Excellence award program.

Dr. Lloyd’s vision drives the continuing success of RedSeal Networks, delivering security automation, unprecedented visibility, and efficient control of complex network defenses. Lloyd focuses on finding the ideal balance of people with machines – helping organizations deal with increasingly complex defensive challenges at a time when experienced personnel remain in short supply.

Research shows that the majority of real-world breaches stem from relatively simple, well-known, old issues that “hide in plain sight,” lost in the ocean of the shifting details of modern infrastructure. The main challenge is not some wave of super-sophisticated novel attacks. These events attract attention, but are actually rare. Most real breaches are easily prevented in hindsight – the problem, of course, is to apply foresight. This concept has informed Dr. Lloyd’s work over 3 decades in network management, optimization, control, and security. The key challenge is to divide the work between machines and human beings. Machines with the right software are tireless and efficient, but do not know how to innovate or get creative. They can exhaustively track down interactions and effects that humans miss, and free humans to focus on what they do best, such as setting strategy and policy.

Dr. Lloyd’s writing on topics such as the ideal “Security War Room,” challenges in Big Data for Security Analytics, BYOD, and Risk Management have driven industry-wide discussions about automation, how to secure rapidly evolving infrastructure, and even implications for legal and insurance accountability.

RedSeal Networks Appoints Board Chairman Ray Rothrock Chief Executive Officer

SANTA CLARA, Calif.– February 12, 2014 –(BUSINESS WIRE)–RedSeal Networks, the leader in network infrastructure security management, today announced that Ray Rothrock, chairman of the board of directors, is appointed chief executive officer (CEO). Rothrock has served as the company’s board chairman since 2004. A renowned venture capitalist whose focus during the early years of the Internet was on infrastructure and security, Rothrock has an extraordinary track record in cyber security investments. Of particular note are IPOs of Check Point Software and Imperva, as well as successful exits such as Pedestal Software, Haystack Labs, Whole Security, Vontu, PGP, and others.

“You cannot secure what you cannot see on your network. Today’s networks are far more complex than ever before and the growing severity and alarming success rates of cyber attacks are on the rise,” said Rothrock. “It is paramount that enterprises and government agencies start getting a better handle on nefarious activities taking place across their complex network infrastructures. Hackers are using automated tools to break into corporate networks. RedSeal provides its customers with automated tools to discover and fix security problems before the hackers find them.”

During his 25-year tenure at Venrock, Rothrock launched the venture capital firm’s Internet practice in 1992 and his investments have landed him on the Forbes Midas List for 2012 and 2013 for his venture track record. Ray retired from Venrock in 2013. Ray currently serves on the boards of Check Point Software Technologies (a Venrock legacy investment), Appthority, CTERA Networks, CloudFlare, RedSeal Networks, and Tri Alpha Energy, all current Venrock portfolio companies.

“Ray has an incredible track record of helping lead and grow successful technology companies, particularly those in the cyber security sector and his passion seems to only grow stronger and more evident each day,” said Tench Cox of Sutter Hill Ventures, investor and board member at RedSeal Networks. “When you couple RedSeal Networks’ superior technology with Ray’s guidance and leadership, you undoubtedly have a winning combination that will enable this organization to continue to expand its footprint across enterprises and government agencies to help ease the woes of network operations and security operations pros who are looking for a better way to navigate their way to a safer corporate network.”

“We have the right technology at the right time. The exceptionally talented team here at RedSeal Networks is poised to take RedSeal to great success. I’m privileged to be asked to lead the team on that mission,” added Rothrock. Mr. Rothrock succeeds Dr. Parveen Jain, who announced his retirement earlier in the week. Jain served as President and CEO of RedSeal Networks since 2011.
